Nintendo has gone too far!

I'm seeing that background and wondering: Are they actually going to give a definitive world map for the mario series?

That'd be kinda crazy, especially if they worked in all the locations of the previous games.

Because the only thing that a T-Rex was ever missing was a mustache. They would have survived the Ice Age had they had them.

The previous games involved wildly divergent levels of technologies (castles and old-fashioned cannons existing alongside jet aircraft and even spaceships - Hell, THIS PICTURE has a T-Rex next to a tank!), fortresses on the moon, worlds inside paintings, repeatedly blowing up whole galaxies, and several worlds entirely within dreams. Oh, and travel through time and alternate dimensions, as well as the aforementioned ability to create and destroy galaxies repeatedly.

There's no sane way to include all of that, and even if they did, they'd overturn it in a heartbeat or make it grossly more complicated than it already was, the same way that the Zelda timeline has become a hideous spiderweb.
