The average folk either look down upon him or are mildly unrest by his appearance and he's quite insecure about that.

I like that in the last panel, it just shows his unscarred part. A normal, happy man with his equally content lover. Unburdened or unaffected by his troubling past.

Maybe that's just me overanalyzing trivial things again.

Also, somehow, I have a feeling that a dark cloud is looming nearby.
