    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 2291

It concerns your safety too, so it has to be done.

I must offer an apology here. In strip #2289, I drew "Photos are fine, but don't upload them," but that was regarding a government plane that had come in for maintenance at the time of the tour, not the maintenance dock itself. I remembered this the day after I uploaded the strip. I'm very sorry.

Beyond that, though, since I only drew the New God Phoenix for the fuselage, I won't be redrawing the strip. (^^;)

The only reader-added tags right now are "(*CENSORED*) sheets of written apologies" and "Sincere plea".

    This survey is child's play:

What did you often do when you were a kid?
    • Any part of the crosswalk outside the white lines is lava
    • If you fall from on top of the wall, it's into lava
    • Any ground outside the buildings' shadows is lava
    • Use several people's backpacks for full armor
    • Invincible defense: "Barrier!"

Could someone please explain the title of this one to me? I have no idea what it means in either language.

Standard Operating Procedure. Does it not come up when doing an internet search for the acronym (with the periods included)?

Well, I saw that but... it just doesn't really fit well in my head the way the titles of the other stripes do, so I figured that meaning was wrong and it was a reference to something else that I couldn't find. If that makes any sense at all.

Ah. Sorry about that, then. I was trying to keep the title short and snappy, since too often it overflows into multiple lines of text when the original Japanese does not. I realize, of course, that it isn't always possible to fit the same concepts in each language into the same available space while maintaining approximately the same font size, but I'm a bit OCD about such things. :-)

Oh, I didn't mean to imply there was a problem with the way you translated it, abbreviated or not. It's kind of hard for me to explain, but on a conceptual level, it seems like the title Mizuki gave it broke from some usual pattern he has, which threw me off. Like, normally it seems like the titles he gives these strips kind of back up the punchline, but I'm not seeing that sort of thing with this one(which is most likely just on me). I'm probably the only one who was thrown off by it due to my peculiar way of thinking.

It refers to the standard procedures of both keeping JAL visitors out of airport-controlled areas without airport personnel's permission, and of the poor JAL employee having to write a LOT of apologies and paperwork if the first standard procedure fails. Possibly a bit more obscure than some strips, but it ties in with the punch line nonetheless.

Oh I see now. I thought standard operating procedure was strictly a military term. I was trying to figure out some connection to an air force base or something. Thanks for explaining it to me.

    Why is that?
    Ooooh! It's a runwaaay!
    It sure is wide.
Please do not step out past this rail, everyone.
On this side, you're on JAL grounds, so there's no problem...
but the other side is the airport's jurisdiction...
    S.O.P.
    Zzhrrrowwwmmm
...so you need the airport's permission when you go outside.
If someone were to step out there without permission, I would have to do a veeeeery long amount of writing...
...so please do abide by the rules.
