    Not sure if this is true, but according to the PPP Preview, owls tries to make their body thin when startled.

    There might be truth to that. Although i can't tell if the owl is scared or trying to look threatening.

    It's certainly true of the African scops owl, as well as the northern white-faced owl shown here. They puff out to appear larger when faced with a weaker-looking potential threat, seem to ignore another owl of equal level (or in this case, a photo or reflection of the owl itself), and squeeze thin to avoid the notice of a stronger-looking potential threat.
