Kind of feel like I connect with NEET-chan on a personal level. Recent graduate, but currently a good fraction of my time is spent job hunting and practicing interview questions... yet that's in the middle of browsing/uploading art, watching anime, reading manga/novels, occasionally playing games with online friends, browsing reddit... being a real weeb in general.

With a B.S. in CS with a 3.7 GPA from a well-known CSU and a few side projects on GitHub I keep thinking I'll be somewhat stress-free, but I've sent applications to a bunch of companies and the fact that only a few here and there reply in a matter of weeks expressing interest makes me incredibly anxious. Ironically, Google was the fastest to respond, and I'm currently waiting on their response to the preliminary coding interview.

I haven't had a real conversation with someone outside my family in like a whole month and it drives me freakin' nuts sometimes. Like I might not even care if it's Skype, I'm just starving for human interaction outside of text :/

And worst of all, I know this is probably just a manifestation I've made myself. orz

I'm guessing the scene looks like a casting couch or something, the questions are similar to ones they would ask as well.

It was meant as a joke. It does seem similar to a JAV interview though.

You can't save a NEET. You'd really be better off legalizing assisted suicide.

Actually, Full time housewives could be seen as NEETs(or Husbands). If this story goes into a happy ending where she marries some sort of childhood friend that's always liked her, she doesn't really need to get a job.

It's just a reference... Sort of like someone drawing Iku diving in "That pool".

And what's wrong with text? :P Oftentimes, the Internet is the only place I can get a real, detailed conversation with people who don't want to just scream "I don't want to talk about games/history/politics/whatever I'm actually interested in" and leave.

But anyway, if you're someone who needs face-to-face human interaction, you'll never be a hikikomori like this girl. The basis of that/this girl's problem is fear of other people (agoraphobia).

Ha, I suppose you're right. The thing is though, there's only so much you can convey through text. Conversation in person has its own problems (like shouting over other people to get your argument across, that has happened a few times) but there's just something... something tangential about having a conversation in person that makes it feel more honest and valuable, if that makes any sense.

But I suppose you're right, I'll never be like NEET-chan since I actually feel like I need people in my life to interact with, regardless of the medium. I think this may just be a specific case because in this one she's addressing that lack of a proper working adult lifestyle by lying to save face. But still, I can only imagine that feeling of dread that creeps over when everyone around you seems to be doing better and have their life on track.

jesus christ you'll be fine. dont stress about a big 4 software gig.

Funnily enough, a friend I've been keeping in touch with (he works at a big data startup) says I should be stressing out, but I'm not sure what to believe. I think there comes some point where you can remember all sorts of data structures/algorithms/software architecture but it won't help that much when you stumble on a question where you're supposed to think on your feet, and quickly. They ask some fairly difficult questions. Things are getting better though.

That would actually be a pretty adorable ending to this pool. Especially with her learning domestic duties and trying to fix herself than in a vicious cycle.

As far as that vicious cycle is concerned, she does seem to be at least applying to jobs, but just isn't getting any.

I too had a similar problem after i lost my first job (only because my uncle helped me get it). Without knowing someone on the "inside", literally every place I tried to get work in (even bottom of the barrel bus boy or waiter) kept asking for "Experienced workers only" with practically a minimum of 2-3 years. I couldn't even get a job in fast food because there was too much competition that I just never got picked.

And with the United States economy where it was/is, it's actually cheaper for a lot of places to only hire a bunch of part time few months only high schoolers than someone actually looking for a full time position with benefits.

Yeah, I can sympathize, while I didn't get laid off, I dropped out of my previous employment for other reasons despite knowing it was the worst time to look for another job. Skilled or unskilled jobs were near impossible to find. Ironically the unions and obamacare that supposedly was supposed to help the little guy completely screwed him over. I had past certification in several welding processes and machining operations and even then I had trouble finding a job for a couple of months. Luckily though I had money saved up, (and good stock market and ammunition selling investments that yielded during that time) and was planning on doing some schooling for a career change anyways so I wasn't too affected. Lots of my friends were really hurting though. A couple went into a tour through the military, some went up northern USA for some industrial jobs.
