parsley is a type of herb. Not a vegetable. Still it's a Japanese thing to never waste any sort of food. Houshou is being a lil excessive with her care for life tho.

What's wrong with it though? Those parsley are for decoration for all I can see. People rarely eat decorations, well, I do. But why not?

    'The Sink Mentality'.
Basically, the idea of a food that has been touched/touching someplace that is/associated with something dirty would cause you to assume it was dirty. A plate with leftovers on the table and the very same plate on the sink, waiting to be washed will produce different response. Even if somebody ate all the spaghetti without ever touching the garnish, looking at the leftover garnish would make you believe it touched the fork/spoon coated with saliva at least once.

Reminds me of what I heard about a restaurant owner who would take relatively okay looking shrimp from eaten dishes, rinse them, and throw them back in the buffet trays. UGH.

So I was the weird one here for having nothing to say when knowingly eat which was supposed to left overs from others.
    Yay, common sense learned.
NOt that I have problems with it though. Better than throwing them away. I spent my money on it.

It is actually likely more deep rooted into our evolution than that. It is likely that leaving something behind of your food will subconsciously alert those around you that the leftovers are not edible, or at least inferior to the rest of the food.

So it is more instincts than common sense.

Eating leftovers is very much something you have to overcome your instincts for. Eating leftovers from family members don't seem to trigger the same aversion response as eating leftovers from a stranger's plate.

Then again, circumstances can allow you to switch that response off if the situation is dire enough that risking contracting unknown pathogens is preferable to starvation.

I'm a man of intellect instead of instinct then. lol
I really have no problem eating leftovers from strangers. Given it was not deemed inedible. I was never really so starved to desperation though.
