Artist's commentary

  • Translated
  • When Ageha's order arrived, she took out an old sewing set from some shelf – she probably found it sometime earlier – and started working.
Although the dress didn't quite fit her body, she used the cloth she ordered to modify it. It seemed like she planned this out beforehand, and her work was unexpectedly skillful.
At first, I watched over her so she didn't hurt herself, but she handled needles and scissors carefully enough that I had no reason to worry.
Anyway, as Ageha was absorbed in her work, I decided to leave her alone and keep away like before.

I can't help but wonder if her right eye is a parasite of some sort, given how in the very first panel, she seems to have no eye at all and its growth seems to be eating up the flesh around itself.

perhaps, but given how little we know of her species, and the fact that we havent seen her react to it, im more inclined to think either its just part of her anatomy or a symbiotic organism. only time will tell.

My take is that it represents an inner conflict: possibly a mental self vs. physical self thing. Part of her wants to be (more) human, but the monstrous part of her is opposed to it. The former is "trying" (loosely speaking; it may be a conscious decision, but isn't necessarily) to suppress the latter, while the latter keeps trying to break free. The rift on the right side of her face, which seems to be tearing open and knitting itself closed simultaneously, is an expression of this conflict.
