I don't think the salute part is a part of the Muslim prayer. Is that what this is supposed to be?

It's three ways the Japanese show respect in a disciplined way. Servicemen salute, citizens bow, and for the most deepest respects toward a superior; bowing from seiza, hands in a triangle. The bow from seiza is traditional in apology as well as for ceremonious presentations of respect, such as toward one's sensei in Kendo or other Japanese traditional activities. It could also be a part of several such activities since they are numbered.
