Well... I guess if you're looking at it in a very, very pragmatic way, the old lady doesn't have long to live so getting her out the way in order to have the time and ability to help the younger victim can seem pretty heroic.
Before moving onto the next page, I had thought it was the typical "the one thing amiss" answer. that's a roller coaster, and it's mighty dangerous for an old lady (especially the stereotypical old traditional Japanese grandma kind) to ride such an attraction. Highly suspicious.
