This reminds me of an old history textbook article I read in high school where just a few decades ago the plumes of smoke and steam from a factory was a commonly symbol in propaganda of technological advancement and the richness of a country, but today manufacturing industry in general is looked upon with distain in today's propaganda as a negative thing one country should push on another.
From the current perspectives beliefs in environmentalism, it is almost jarring to see a bunch of girls just chatting in front of what we are conditioned to automatically classify mentally as toxic fumes.
