He's actually a pretty cool all round good guy. Something of a national hero, and not just because beats people up.

And whatever 'bad guy' vibe (mainly revenge against Ryu at any cost) has been Retconned.

That and I'm sure those two talked and came to an understanding. (It'd be more of a normal rivalary.)

Yeah, in Street Fighter IV's rivalry battle between Sagat and Ryu, it came out to be kind of a normal rivalry between the two.

This is actually a reference to a recent Ryu manga published where Ryu tracks down Sagat to train before finding Akuma. In the story you learn that Sagat saved some orphan kids and is raising them as sort of a foster father. They do indeed farm tomatoes.

In the Street Fighter II anime Sagat was a man who did not harbor evil tenancies and also had honor.

I don't think he was evil to begin with.
From what I've seen he was more of a male version of what Chun Li was during her "Zero" days.
A hot-headed sore loser.

Sagat's come a long way from his revenge-obsessed rival days.
