Automobile Associations usually have services that they'll bring you fuel or otherwise service your car on the road so I'll definitely pick that one.

Actually, I have called them many times as my car's battery had a tendency to run out of power.

In my area (Brazil), after around 11 o'clock 'till early morning the stations are closed for the day.

Only Gas stations I know that stay open are the ones on or right next to our Autobahns.
Somewhat related, running out of fuel and having to stop on the emergency lane on it will get you a ticket by the police.
