Minea (ミネア) and Manya (マ一ニャ) are the original Japanese names. It probably makes more sense to stick to these. The new DS game is localized in half a dozen languages, and the names aren't the same everywhere (in Italy, Ragnar is Galiardo de Guglielmi).

Trouble is, we're English speakers, not Japanese speakers or Italian speakers. The vast majority of site visitors will know them as Maya and Meena. How many have disputed the phoenix_wright tag on grounds that it isn't his name elsewhere?

Then again, we still have that horrid suzumia_haruhi_no_yuuutsu tag, so I don't expect logic to take over any time soon.

Site policy is and always has been to go with the Japanese name. Phoenix Wright was recently converted.

Actually, I think the site policy is to go with which ever is the original. It doesn't matter if it's Japanese, Chinese, Italian, etc.
