I object to using this name just because Sankaku or the Daily Dot reported it that way. We have a very clear origin for this meme and the artist makes no reference to a "challenge." I'd stop whining if the challenge part were removed from the end. Maybe it's just narrow-mindedness, but "challenge" concepts seem very contrived, take the ice bucket challenge as example. I think this is something more than that. It would be nice maybe to ask the artist directly what he'd call this concept. //end

I disagree, because most of this events or challenges are originated because the people start to popularize the idea for X reason and just a few of times because the idea was born for that, normally the name is something who most of the people agrees and start to use it, independent of who named or start to use it.

I'm siding with Lannihan on this one. The author didn't explicitly name it himself in his work -- all that's tagged in pixiv #58470507 that bears relevance to the action is 見せない構図 ("not showing" composition), エロ写メ (erotic photo attachments), and 自画撮り (selfie).

I don't think he ever expected that post to take off as well as it did because of the coordination challenge, but it did. In the end, that's how memes come about -- they don't come from any one single person, they just come about once something is fittingly named and people share it virally.

Now if he did name it, then there'd be a little more room to dispute, but its the same way the Tawawa Challenge started. Himura Kiseki posted a tweet, and then people took note of the interesting pose and wanted to mimic it. He never made mention of any challenge when he posted this.
