I guess a zombie wouldn't have any body temperature to speak off, you know, save for room temp maybe.

But you know, I always wondered, even with zombie plagues that devastate the earth, wouldn't it be prudent to move to a tundra like environment, or just way it out until a strong winter hits?

Regardless if whether or not the undead walk, the cold is going to stymie them.

Alternatively one can also go to a place with very hot climate, like tropics. With high temperatures, humidity and abundance of insects dead bodies will decompose much faster.

Either way zombies are not that big of a threat.

Not the most original topic, but if we're going to play with zombie fiction I'd like to toss a few possibilities out there for fun.

Heat does play a factor in decomposition, but a desert isn't like a summer day. A desert is dry, and the body cannot break down completely if it is dry. The zombies will dehydrate, but the harsh environment will ultimately end up killing the decomposing bacteria and mummifying the zombie. Depending on how well the zombie virus slows the overall decay, you could end up being chased by jerky zombies for a while.

Cold poses the same problem, but less so. If a corpse gets too cold, the decomposition will slow. Sub-zero temperatures could realistically freeze a corpse solid, but there could be a few "old" zombie that may not have all of its blood and bodily fluids anymore, which means it might only get chilled at best. Even if most of them are frozen, or buried in a whiteout, they won't stay that way all year, so you could be on the hunt again at the end of the year when summer comes.

I'd think if one was damned and determined to out-endure a zombie horde, the best option would be a swamp region. High humidity and yearly warm seasons will rapidly, and fully, decompose any zombies who stick around for too long. Plus, there's all kinds of carrion bugs to help you out, and the muck is a natural defense for those without higher motor functions.

Of course, this is all just playing with fiction.

A corpse's body temperature is always cooler than the open air's, so they are cool when hugged.
