Heh, Italians and their complicated food and drink names. Well, nowadays it's more common to see people shooting coffee order like machine guns though.

@Danbooru Italians: What's the difference between a molto lungo (extra long, AKA more extra water) and an Americano?

@BarefeetChaser: I'm translating based on the Italian text instead of the Japanese translation.

Sure, direct translation is indeed better than translation based on another translation. Just delete mine.

The Lungo coffee usually fills half of an italian cup (the "Tazzina"), the Molto Lungo instead fills the cup completely, but it's not very common since most of the Italians prefer the "Lungo"

First trip to Italy years ago, the tour bus stops at a truck stop. There for the first time I saw a vending machine that distributed cappuccinos and espressos. I later moved to a town in Texas where a "barista" was whoever was closest to the coffee pot.

Now there is a Starbucks on every corner.

I think you meant that Hell has either Russian or US police, with most of the male options there being older Asians (the females would probably be no particular group, but to go off of the penis theme of Asian men and that song with the line "don't want no short dick man"... nah, saying it would sound insulting, though I have no problem bashing Asian males as I am one).

Well, German cops have never been particularly violent, even in riot situations --- not compared to the French or the British in such --- but as US Police shoot off more bullets in one incident than all the Germans in a year, I know whom I would feel safer accosting.

Simply the Italians invented the damn thing (the Espresso Machine)
    https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/38/Espresso-machine-first-patent-angelo-moriondo.jpg
    http://www.aacoffee.pl/sklep/images/102A_LA-PAVONI_Ideale_1.jpg

However, all of the Bozzetto sketches are part true and part exagerated for fun. The coffee one is not an exception. more than 90% of those that drink a coffee in an Italian bar simply ask for "un caffè", and what's served is a standard espresso. However, variations are possible.
A quick guide to Italian Espresso.

If in an Italian bar you call for "un caffè", you'll have little more than half of an espresso cup. Variations in quantity that you can ask are:
Ristretto: only the first, thicker part of the coffee that came out of the machine. It's more bitter and has less caffeine than a normal espresso.
Corto (short): It's only from 1/2 to 2/3 of a normal espresso. It has the same density.
Lungo (long): It's the contrary of a ristretto, more water is left flowing (about 50% more), the coffee is less thick and less bitter than a standard espresso, but has more caffeine. If you ask "Molto lungo" you simply want it even more long.
Doppio (double): two espresso in the same cup.

You can ask to put something in your coffee:
Macchiato freddo (spotted cold): With a shot of cold milk. The cold milk doesn't have foam. It lowers the temperature of the coffee.
Macchiato caldo (spotted hot): with a shot of hot milk. The hot milk can have, or not, foam (if you have preference, ask for it: "con schiuma", with foam; "senza schiuma", without foam).
Corretto (corrected): With a shot of grappa. If you want instead another alchoolic distillate, ask for it ("corretto al rum", "corretto al whisky", ecc...)

An espresso is served in an espresso cup, but you can ask for it to be:
Al vetro (to the glass): served in a little glass.
Since Littorio asked for her coffee to be "molto lungo" it makes sense to ask for it to be served "in tazza grande" (in a cappuccino cup), otherwise it doesn't.
It doesn't make sense to ask for the coffee to be served "in tazza piccola" (in a small cup). In Italian bars there is not a smaller cup than a standard espresso cup.

An espresso is made of coffee with caffeine, you can ask for it to be:
    Decaffeinato: Without caffeine.
    D'orzo: made of barley.

You can mix all those variations at will, but that's pretty much all. The coffee came out of the machine at a certain temperature, there is no way to have it hotter, and the only way to have it colder is to put something cold in it, or let it cool, so the requests for different temperatures are made only for fun. The request for more or less foam only makes sense for a cappuccino, since the espresso cream is not made with a steam wand. Is the customer that put the sugar in the coffee, so it doesn't makes sense to ask for "double sugar". "americano, corretto grappa, con latte, doppia panna, tazza a parte" is technically possible, but I think none requested such a thing in more than 100 years of espresso history.

In the end, remember that there is a time for everything. If there are few people in the bar, the barman will probably even appreciate that you ask for some weird espresso variation. If he is busy, you'll be frowned upon.

@Dogwalker: So an Americano is a standard normale shot diluted with hot water AFTER it's extracted to a strength approximating drip coffee, while a molto lungo is an extra long shot with more hot water used during the extraction process? That's the difference?

Infact, or at least it should be that way. Since both "molto lungo" and "americano" are unusual requests, it's possible that, requested for an "americano" a barman will make a "molto lungo" instead.

I only drink it drip but I do my drip coffee at home lulz (chemex, v60, kalita wave and the kalita 101) but from my limited knowledge a lungo is basically a longer shot its you can probably say is different from an americano because an americano will typically have 1 shot of espresso over 1 shot water, while a lungo is done over 40 second extraction or would more or less weigh 70-80 grams (a typical espresso shot would have been made over a 20-30 second period with 60 grams of water)
Next it is said you can never be served cappucino over 10am in italy I cant verify this claim, and latte is an american thing much like australia's flat white
But I cant get too deep into espresso as a good machine for 1 is beyond my finances

The barman will probably just unify the German girls' coffee with the strongest brew he can make but he'll probably have a squirm when the Italians come in and start listing their prefs.

I once tried it with crude milk (just squeezed out from the cow). Best drink I ever had.

Like in the US, and where I live.

The locals here really call the parking wardens 'mosquitoes', due to the considerable high prices of some fines, including parking in the wrong place, not displaying parking coupons, using coupons that are marked like 1 hour early and so on. Bad news is; the no parking zone fines are also handled by the local police who will NOT give a damn and slap an RM300 fine regardless the offence...

But up in the US, one guy got so pissed at the parking warden he literally pulled some traffic sign out... (My guess was either it was a no parking sign or a stop sign...)

    Coffee!
Caffè d'orzo macchiato freddo doppio zucchero! (Iced barley coffee macchiato, double sugar!)
Decaffeinato bollente poca schiuma! (Decaf, scalding hot, go easy on the foam)
Molto lungo tiepido in tazza grande! (Lukewarm, light taste, extra large size)
Espresso macchiato caldo! (Hot espresso macchiato)
Espresso semifreddo in tazza piccola senza schiuma! (Cold espresso, small cup, no foam) Original skit uses "ristretto", not "espresso". Espresso appears to be an error introduced by a transcript of the skit hosted on a Japanese site.
Americano corretto grappa con latte doppia panna tazza a parte! (Americano, shot of grappa with milk, double cream and keep the cream in a separate cup) *Alcoholic
