No no no, see with Brits that's not how this works. They don't assimilate into your culture, they find things they like about your culture and assimilate them into *their* culture, and if you're lucky that just means a strong trading relationship. But if your culture is still well received once it reaches the Home Isles? Suddenly your future is looking a lot more... colony-like.
I think it's more a case of Bismarck finding her eating something so "lowly" amusing, it's not as if we don't have similar foods in the UK. Pot Noodle anyone?

That doesn't look half bad after googling the brand. Heck, she's a shipgirl - why shouldn't she indulge in lower class goods on occasion?
Besides, Bismarck is fully assimilated anyways. She's got no room to talk. ;)
Bismarck at least has the figure to fill out that uniform.

U-511 and Graf are assimilated.
Bismarck and Prinz are still their old selves but acclimated pretty well.
Max and Lebe are still adujusting.
That hanten suggests Bismarck is fully assimilated, especially as she was warning Graf about the kotatsu. She's just less afraid to show her German side than some.
We are Nippon. Lower your Personality and surrender your Culture. We will add your personal and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your Personality will adapt to service us. Resistance is Futile
As another brit once said: I tell you one thing: I've been to a parallel universe, I've seen time running backwards, I've played pool with planets, and I've given birth to twins, but I never thought in my entire life I'd taste an edible Pot Noodle.

No no no, see, with the Japanese that's not how this works. They don't assimilate into your culture, they find things they like about your culture and assimilate them into *their* culture. If you're lucky that just means a strong trading and political relationship, and possibly lots of tourists. But if your (naval) culture is still well-received and hangs around long enough once it reaches the Home Islands? Suddenly you've got another World War on your hands.
... I admit the second half of that joke could have used more work.

Basically China minus the naval part, at least for the first one and a half millennia or so. China has always been a land power, despite what the government seems to think about the South China Sea.
