The problem is, Tsuneo (Miho and Maho's dad) really DOESN'T have much of a presence -- even the supplementary material avoids discussing him as much as possible. Not helped by the fact that every time he has an "official" appearance, his back is ALWAYS turned.

The same can be said with Honoka's father except that he's at least shown to shed manly tears while watching their live performances in the anime.
Just in a family photo I think. Or some other image, but his bac was to the camera, or his head shadowed. Best guess he's a mechanic, as fixing tanks would probably be the fastest way into Shiho's heart.

nope, he only has appeared in suplementary material. From here we know his name (from Miho's IRL official Oarai citicenship certificate), profesion - Shiho's tank mechanic and highschool sweetheart (from some article about Shiho in "monthly senshado" magazine, if memory serves well) and that he's alive and well (GuP manga) and a doting parent (Little Army). The first pic with the back to the camera (and only an arm showing) was in the poker cards that came from the BDs, and the second one (full body, back to camera) from some promo art (post # 2432445)
Brilliant how the fanartist caught the detail with the anglerfish and Miho's and Shiho's father... I wonder if that detail was deliberate by the series creators...

On the other hand, in Love Live once you turn 18 you cease to have an actual name. Or maybe it's when you become a parent you cease to have an actual name.

HE EXISTS?!?!?!? I always thought Shiho chased him off after she gave birth to Miho. Either that or she had them both thru invitro.
Moreover, a male basically just leeches on a female's body, fulfills its breeding role and becomes something whose existence you're even not sure about - it doesn't have much of a presence.Your humble servantNishizumi Miho's Anglerfish CornerThe appearance of anglerfish male isn't so well known in comparison to female.Just like Tsuneo-san.
