I mean, you can step on the road, step on the little bridges, step on the grass, sit on the bench, go to the town, ride the (apparent) train, climb the mountain... you can do all of that, but you chose to stay in the only place you're not meant to be.

If this picture depicts the slice of life in rural area, then by all means she's okay to stand in there. I've gone to a place like this (not in Japan, but close), and believe me, untouched by pollution and all - the water on the ditch is still clear and clean, you can see fishes, crabs, and even freshwater tortoises!
