The only other stuff from the artist aside from this image on Pixiv is the title "0.0".
The only thing I can think of was a story from normandy, where a squad of germans passed a squad of paratroopers, heading the opposite direction. IIRC, neither opened fire since they both had places to go and since no-one knew what was happening, they just passed by
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I do think these little moments of humanity are quite amusing in the cruel battlefield. Man interacting with each other, not soldier, not anything with an "ist", just man.

Another case if a group of American soldiers encountered a German patrol near the Rhine and the Germans asked "Do you want to die tonight?" and one of the Americans said no and the two patrols went on their way

Seems they ran into each other during Normandy and the German food runner gave the American paratrooper soup instead of fighting. Perhaps she's tired after her experience on the beach ( post #1707320 ).
Think this is due to backlighting. The sun is rising behind her so the light is shining on the US paratrooper's face, but not the German soldier's. The artist maintains this lighting despite the change of angle in the frames which is why in the 3rd panel the light is shining on the left face of the paratrooper and the back of Erica *cough* excuse me, German soldier.
Excellent consistency in lighting by the artist. Also, if I might add, the belt hooks on the German uniform in the first panel are 100% correct. Awesome small detail. The basis of German load bearing system were the belt hooks built into the tunic. Then the "Y" straps over that. I love small details like that.

Maybe it was early morning and she didn't recognize her and before she could react to the situation she got soup.
She's palid, her skin and hair are the same pale blue-white... and she's clean as a whistle. She's a specter of some sort, make no mistake. Even the shaded parts of the American soldier aren't an ice-blue shade like that.
I remember seeing once (probably on History Channel...) that near the end, the Wehrmacht was so demoralized that soldiers were running to the British and American lines and surrendering because they knew they were losing the war, and didn't want to become Soviet prisoners (about which horror stories of the way they treated captured Germans were becoming quite well-known). One former soldier said that he had been sleeping in his tent, and woke up to find a German soldier had thrown away his weapon, snuck into camp, and sat down by the bedding of the American soldier and patiently waited for him to wake up so that he could surrender to him.
(It became bad enough that Hitler basically started threatening to murder the families of any soldier who surrender. This prompted soldiers to ask to surrender, but keep who they were anonymous.)
Considering the ghastly colors on the German, she might've died with that being her last duty? So now she's in an eternal soup delivery.
It's just how Erica draws shadow colors on her characters. She uses a lot of blue hues very often. You can see the sun is behind her. So I believes it's simply to express shadow upon the pale skinned German girl.
And my take on this is that the American was expecting her partner or another US soldier, only to see it being an enemy German soldier which took her by surprise. The German girl not having a gun, and only having soup... she just handed the enemy the soup as a goodwill gesture to show she's clearly not a threat, and moved on her way.
