Even HMS Vanguard would be 70 years old (commissioned May 12, 1946)

To be fair, Kongou was still a battlecruiser back then. We can get away with saying someone threw a bucket full of water from the Fountain of Youth to her when she was retrofitted and reformatted.

Even the youngest looking ones are granny-ships.

Still 79 years old. Or 72 if the AA retrofit also came with another Fountain of youth treatment, but then nearly everyone who survived that long also had the same treatment.

I wonder how one would interpret a battlecruiser Kongo and her sisters? Teen years? They were a little shorter, not as fast, and had less armor. She had anti-torpedo bulges added in her refit to a battleship, and was lengthened when she became a fast battleship.

My view? Battlecruiser, so the Kongou CCs would be younger (and shorter), plus dressed as high school girls like most of the cruisers (the others are either OLs or pastaships, plus Pudding), but with big gun turrets like the BBs.

What kind of uniform? Well, possibly something inspired by 1920 British (by which I mean grammar schools, not public ones) female secondary school uniforms. The Kongou-class was designed in England after all, and this was before they were significantly upgraded and retrofitted by the Japanese.

Alternatively, modern secondary school uniforms (similar to what Darjeeling wears in GuP) could also work. Sans blazer, of course, those make them look too businesslike.
