Well, she did earn a Philippine Liberation Medal and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation for her role in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, so it makes sense.

after reading Nagato's line, the sting may have been harder if it was Missouri.

But it was Iowa's crew that occupied Nagato so that is why Nagato said she felt that she has already lost

I'd like to think that Nagato felt awfully silly for getting all wound up over this newcomer =3

But seriously, Iowa, no love for your old sea dogs?

Maybe because, no big name admiral used her as a flagship

I'd say that Vice Admiral Willis A. Lee, a medal-winning Olympic shooter, Rear Admiral on the Washington when it pummelled Ayanami and Kirishima, commander of ALL battleships in the Pacific, and one of the loudest voices against leaving Samar effectively unguarded (Halsey was damn lucky that the ships there fought as hard as they did and the Japanese fleet was not more aggressive) was kind of a big name.

Oh sorry, I didn't know that he had Iowa as his flagship
