I thought Reiji during his army tenure would be part of special infantry, turns out he likely got peeled with the mechanized infantry.
Given the fact that the Japanese automotive industry is, in many ways, comparable to the American automotive industry, I would expect mechanized infantry to be the norm rather than the exception in the JGSDF. Especially if they're operating under total warfare conditions as might be expected here.

It's already mentioned in an earlier installment that he was mechanized infantry (literally) post #2109091
That's not a Jeep, per se. Looks more like a Humvee (or the Toyota clone).
Now that I think about it, this is the first time that I've gone out on a off-day with you, Admiral.Sorry 'bout the short notice....hey, Admiral, Admiral! This beauty is one of mine that I swiped when I came over from the Army. This is the first time that I've been in a jeep!
You're quite the driver there, aren't you Admiral~Don't worry about it, it's not a problem. In the time that I was in the Army, I was in a mechanised infantry platoon, see.Any and all wheeled vehicles are my specialty....it's-a-pro-miseThank you for making the time for me....I don't really care either way. I had business to take care of for myself in any case.
