Don't. Think. So. That Kadokawa will hire this artist to draw the USS North Carolina shipgirl for Kantai Collection, they will still ask Shizuma Yoshinori to draw her just like they didn't hire jeanex to draw KanColle's USS Iowa shipgirl.
She is like ushio. She has the "quality" but deep inside of her, she is rater embarrassed from the attention she gets
I guess I can see that. By many accounts it was her sister who tagged her with that name, in a pique of sibling rivalry.
Here's one of the more colorful renditions of that story about how she got the name, as related by a book I have called 'Tar Heel History On Foot'. Source is given as a Washington sailor's memoir.
The story [of the Showboat nickname] arises out of competition between the newly commissioned USS North Carolina and the USS Washington. While the North Carolina had received much good press, the Washington had not. Moreover, Chesterfield cigarette ads featured the North Carolina, further wounding the pride of the sailors assigned to the Washington.
One day the two ships happened to both be in the Chesapeake Bay at the same time. The North Carolina sent a message to the Washington that she intended to sail by at 1300 hours and expected to receive full honors.
The chaplain of the Washington, who also served as the band director, told his band to play Here Comes The Showboat when the North Carolina passed by, which they did.
The matter might have been forgotten had the Cougar Scream, a weekly publication on the Washington, not captured the story--and the captain of the Washington not tried to squelch it. Ultimately the captain was unsuccessful. When he saw they story, he recalled the newspaper immediately. But some of the sailors had already stashed the papers in a locker. When a reissue of the Cougar Scream came out, several sailors noted that the article about "The Showboat" was missing. The story spread throughout the fleet and the nickname stuck.

Jeanex's interpretation of Iowa was not that fitting though.
If I remembered, there was this incident she got mined and started to list a bit. But I gotta hand it to her little sister, getting close enough to give Kirishima a hard slap for giving South Dakota a hard whack (strangely, the Fusou sisters will probably welcome her from all the mishap she kinda suffered)

Well, IIRC North Carolina never fired her guns on an enemy warship, while her sister Washington managed to sink Kirishima in a sneak attack.
I'd imagine the sister dynamic to be like Yamato and Musashi, with North Carolina being the soft-spoken "girl next door" and Washington being hot-blooded.

Five years later, and now Washington's actually in KanColle. Not exactly hot-blooded, but not at all lacking in confidence.
