I like how the Karl-Gerat carries its own shovel and stuff. Is that normal procedure for modern tanks/artillery?
Usually they're carried in boxes these days, but back in WWII it was pretty common to carry tools on the outside of the tank. You never know when you might get stuck or need to dig an enplaced position for your vehicle or somesuch.
(although in the case of the lulzy huge German guns, they usually traveled with a fairly substantial convoy and had huge crews, since even with all those men it still took 2 days to get them ready to fire.)
