Yasen plane does work for day battle as well, just not as effectively as the planes that don't provide the night battle bonus. Sendai, of course, refuses to acknowledge the existance of any other... Still - this Teitoku got 3 Sendai Kai Ni and a fourth Sendai to Kai just so the latter could gear up with triple yasen plane?
