I'm not sure this airplane is a K5Y or a Ki-9. (They were both called red dragonflies.)

Judging from the depiction of the artist, it looks like the main landing gear has an axle attached (Though, it might have been due to the compression of the image), and the wings and the main landing gear are moved aft to the center of the aircraft. With both/one of these characteristics, it corresponds with the K5Y.

Btw, had been lurking in danbooru and just started creating an account.

Judging from the wing struts (reversed N pattern), it's the K5Y. The Ki-9 has the distinctive N-shaped struts when viewed from the side.

I could barely make out the landing gear axle, though it's a bit hard for me to see it clearly. Good eyes, dasianfatass.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Whoops, I just checked the drawing of the 2 aircrafts, and they have the same inverted "N" strut designs.

Ah, you're right. That angle's really tricky.

The only defining differences between the two I can make out at a glance (aside from the landing wheel axle) is that the K5Y has a more swept-back wing design compared to the Ki-9's straight wings.

Oh, right. There's also that tail wheel - the K5Y has a longer strut that sticks out in a curve running below the fuselage just ahead of the tail, whereas the Ki-9 just sticks down at an angle from the end of the fuselage right below the tail.

Judging from the tail wheel here, I'd still say it's the K5Y.
