Kankore without the lovely filters on. Quite harsh.
Still better than 'Kankore as straight up WWII re-enaction'. That premise is absolutely pointless since the whole point of the series is to give the ships another chance.

I Agreed! Otherwise a "straight up WWII re-enaction" which shows the ships suffering the casualties of lost and pain of the war, would apply to the opposite side (allied ships) as well, against what usually some authors like showing: the opposite side as evil side (biased view). The war has no right or wrong, good or evil side, only the interests of one side against the interests of other XD
Just let the "winner" decide who is the bad and hero after the "end" of the war ><
But if it's WW2 re-enaction, wouldn't the other side be slaughtering them with overwhelming forces and resources and public approval ?
It's a combination of stirring up otaku into nationalistic fervor (Gotta keep Abe's crew in power somehow), whitewashing unpleasant history that would cause a perceived loss of face, and pure money-grubbing with cookie cutter cuties.
Not quite re-enaction. More power fantasy for the ideologically bereft, I guess.

Or perhaps it's just a game that is aimed at otaku, especially military otaku. Whitewashing? From what I know, the game references a lot of things, including unpleasant ones like the design flaws of the ships, the incidents related to the ships, how do they sunk, etc.
Man, some people like to think too much about anything, huh.
Ooops, I missed out the first part of Seika's comment ("But if it's WW2 re-enaction...") and thought we were talking about a "simple" Shipgirl vs Abyssal scenario, rather than a re-enactment where Abyssals = Allies =P
