Aliens came here, noticed there are cows everywhere and that the cows are being butchered everywhere (except for India). They must have thought it's an essentil part of the human culture and wanted to try it for themselves to see what it's all about.

Or maybe they just wanted a good steak after the light years long trip here. I know I would.

Or cruel pranks. To me, it seems they only come to the earth for unknown experiments or study by screwing around...
