I really hope the trend of making Kyon-ko tsundere-ish stops, as the idea really doesn't mingle well with the snarky and sarcastic personality the ringleaders over at Animesuki had envisioned for her.
No doubt 2ch and Niconico had big hand in its spreading. Can't imagine another community starting something so...stupid yet massive. It's probably one of those things that snowball with no real reason that you can pick up.
