That was a really good doujin, and hilarious in context of this image. Although it sort of pains me how optimistic it is on the sinking of shipgirls. Even though it is a happy end, a bit of my mind can't help but see it as a wishful delusion.

To be fair, if he is lucky enough that she still recognizes him (by the fact that she hasn't blown him off in chunks via arm-cannon, she does) this definitely is not hear-breaking, more like a tearful, loving reunion (more so if that is an ahegao...) after which they'll have to figure out how to deal with the higher-ups.
