    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 1741

I'd been invited to a pre-con offline meet for Tokyo manga creators for the first time, so I went off to the meeting venue and so on, still suffering from this pain.

    Man, was I hurting!

Both of these refs are Metal Gear Solid, but I think you knew that. :-) People who don't know the game won't get this strip. (^^;)

Reader-added tags include "Snake", "Your hair is black", and "※Not a mental hospital".

I feel asleep! The survey have started to move:

Which do you want to play?
    • Metal Gear (NES)
    • Solid Snake (MSX)
    • Sons of Liberty
    • Peace Walker
    • Phantom Pain

I guess back in the days they had to cut you open in order to remove kidney stones and if I am not mistaking. Lately they can do it with sound waves or something right?

Ultrasound, yeah. It's much less invasive, but there's also a chance the calculus doesn't break up if it's not done properly.

Of course, if they're small enough, you can just pass them, although my mom says that hurts worse than childbirth.

Does this...kidney stone seriously have the same name as an advanced form of mathematics, commonly referred as one level above algebra?

    Calculus.
    Noteworthy:

    Wikipedia said:
Calcis, in Greek, was a term used for various kinds of stones, coming from the term for limestone. This spun off many modern words, including "calculate" (use stones for mathematical purposes), and "calculus", which came to be used, in the 18th century, for accidental or incidental mineral buildups in human and animal bodies, like kidney stones and minerals on teeth.

Regardless, at least the head one is useful.

Can't figure out a use for the urinary one. Unless you're William Shatner, of course.

What are the odds that two mangaka would get kidney problems stones at the same time? I'm reading the Minato Hitori manga mentioned a few pages back...

And this was back in 2009. Never mind.
