Depends on the vehicle it has eight wheels, if it was some BTR variation those have firing ports and vision slits to use them for the embarked troops along the sides of the hull specifically to allow the passengers to put fire on troops close to the sides of the vehicle. If this was a proper tank though then yeah, it's vision to the direct sides unless the commander is turned out should be basically non-existent.

Is This How It Works in game? NOT met tanks yet SO Be handy To know This is a bad Idea:P

hide in cardboard box and then walk slowly to tank. . guaranteed not alerted the tank

What's dumb to me is that vehicles ONLY see through the front of the turret. Its like they forgot there's periscopes for the driver, and the commander has his own as well as the cupola.
