We already have an abyssified Nagato in the form of Battleship Water Oni. I'm guessing an abyssified Teruzuki.

By facial expression, length of the headband and the lack of Teruzuki's hair ornament, I'm leaning more on her being Akizuki.

Neat to have a shipgirl artist (especially Yoshinori) design an abyssal and the abyssal artist design a shipgirl.

I think it nagato doesn't she have a anti-air skill? Like in a sakazaki freddy comic when she save jun'you from bomber.
And I don't think it Akizuki or other her sister.
I mean how that a DD anti-air become a kick-ass final boss of the big event. (Like Ikazuchi become Re-class battleship or something like that)

Apparently getting Abyssal-fied makes you stronger than you used to be.

Her name is "Air Defense Hime" is more correct, East Asian countries don't use "Anti-Air" but "Air Defense" for anti-air force.

i will call her "Aegis Hime" or simplify "Aegis-chan"

because of her highly defensive armor(which is derive the word "Aegis" means a defensive shield use by greek gods) and highly AA capability that similar to a typical modern AA destroyers

Yeah, and in chapter 28, when destroyers was said eat one bean for each year base since their year-finished, Fubuki was scared because that is about a bag of beans : )). I guess about 100 hundread beans each bag.

Which is why I feel it makes no sense when people demand that game developments be faithful to their personal knowledge of WWII events. Sure, the girls may have features, equipment and personalities based on historical ships but their situation is entirely different.

Not quite. It's a big mix.

IN THE GAME, they're retracing many historical campaigns the IJN participated in. Summer Event 2014 was Operation AL/MI with the highlight being a makeshift Midway. Winter Event 2015 was a remake of Operation Hailstone. Summer Event 2015 is another take on a segment of the naval battles of Guadalcanal. Even the regular missions in the game remake more historical campaigns. On and on and on.

If they truly were modern, their weapons, tactics are not. No missiles. No jet aircraft. No self-guided torpedoes. None of the tools for modern naval warfare. Instead, they reproduce weapons, aircraft, equipment the IJN fielded in WWII.

Visually, in terms of how the characters look, it's "modern." Those outfits the girls are wearing are not exactly from Japan's wartime era which was a much, MUCH more conservative era of the country. But everything else screams of a WWII style. There are so many nods towards WWII in Kantai Collection. Even references to units and the ships that made up those units. The quests are filled with such references.

Retracing historical campgaigns is not making them living in WW2 era. I-168 say "Ah, were you looking at me from behind? It's not like I'm playing with a smart phone or anything!" when she is secretary. If if Musashi as secretary and you idling too long, she will say "Admiral, if you're busy, you should close the browser - that's the Admiral way. What? You were thinking of the next strategy? Oh, my apologies then." . Hyuuga's library intro say: "....Ah yes, JMSDF's DDH "Hyuuga" succeeds to my name. " ( she know clearly modern Helicopter Carrier bearing her name). Also, Kirishima's library intro say: "....One of the Aegis ships of the modern JMSDF succeeds my name. "

I don't know that WW2 already has Smart Phone, Internet Browser and Helicopter Carrier, Aegis combat system for those girls to know and use. Reference to units, and ship just as same as war veteran who survive the was, and they keep mention events, stuff from the war, and they don't make them living in wartime.

Summary, Kantai Collection is in modern-era, they just living with WW2-era battleship spirit and knownledge. Also, only Ship Girl's WW2-era equipments can harm Abyssal Ship Girls. That just game setting, especially for WW2 maniac, who love WW2 waships and tactics, not the modern, as same as people who love watching Napoleonic-era fighting in shoulder-to-shoulder ranks, not like modern tactics, just take cover, shoot and call airstrike when they just face little trouble.

When Shizuma Yoshinori decided to make an abyssal girl, you know that your life as an admiral is fucked.
