Unlike the Americans, the Japanese did paint the pendant numbers on their ships or their even their names on the hull of the ships. Possibly because to confuse their enemy. The Americans painted their numbers because imagine trying to remember a ship out of say 200 over ships.

I hope people haven't really thought about joining the navy or army because of Kancolle or something of the likes.
    .....
    Okay...I'm guilty.

Man, if we had to do ship recognition tests to gain entry, I think KanColle would have a much smaller player population. :(

I think people have joined the army because of Call of Duty, but I don't know if that's just a rumour or truth because I don't have hard sources.

That would be America's Army game series, not Call of Duty.

While I admit because of Minecraft I got interested in metal casting and gunpowder fabrication, I don't think anyone sane would associate moe girls representing war ships with joining the navy. World of Warships on the other hand...

I mean, it's not impossible for someone to get into KC, read up on history, then develop a more-than-passing interest in naval stuff. KC can be the catalyst, but being the sole reason is far fetched

KC, probably not getting higher applications to the Maritime Self Defense Forces.

Girls und Panzer on the other hand, probably did cause an increase in tank drivers.

It increased interest in some who are into WWI and WWII vessels some more as well as dragging salt dogs (I don't think that's an insult to sailors IMHO) who did their run or are currently in their tenure into the game. not remotely sure if it did anything else like in WoT where... well... stuff like the dreaded wehraboo happened although there are many who still insist the the IJN is the bestest Pacific Fleet evar without checking the whole of each ship themselves.

I still find Mogami to be the most interesting cruiser, both in-game and historically. IMHO she looks like a sound design appearance-wise for a normal person but naval engineers argued that something went derp in her but in-game wise, she's just strangely potent.

I will admit it did make me think of going to see if Battleship Cove is accepting job applications.
