Social commentary on the void of the human soul/heart?

It could be sexual. It could refer to the explosive change puberty brings to young girls and how "The Man" (suggested to be said with a groan) can sit her down, shut her voice up, and 'guide' her via his inapplicable experiences as well, a man, all while lusting over the control he administers (think, poster girls, sexualization in pop culture, and Congress). In this idea, "The Man" represents both male society, and the traditional government moniker: "the G-men"...
