Judging by the way they hold their bows, was Kaga left handed? cause hiryuu's flight deck is on her left side like kaga, but her bow is holded with her left hand, so looks like hiryuu's flight deck is on wrong position.

It's a resting position in kyudo (like kendo, but archery). When not drawing, you place it into the other hand with the bow behind you like Kaga does
