Am I the only one to be really put off by Ooi's rampant Kitakamism?
It started off as just a small fandom joke(in game Ooi is nothing like that) but I'd say the anime just made it worst. She isn't even like that in the mangas either.

And then Ooi's hourlies came and she is now a full Kitakamisexual clingy yandere in the new canon.
I just hope that Kunihiro's characterization won't change into something like Ooi's if a Touken Ranbu anime appears someday.

I just noticed something about Ooi's Light Cruiser ship construction line. "I'm so happy that a new friend has arrived."
But every kai after that gets less and less happy(and then there is ofcourse the hourlies now).
Either Kadokawa is trying to Retcon Ooi into a crazy Kitakami sexual or it was always planned that she went from "Nice girl" to "I hate everyone that isn't Kitakami" girl.

Her hourlies aren't TOO bad. She was always the "Why yes, I love admiral too," ship. In the hourlies now, she sneaks out to go find Kitakami, but still mostly keeps it together and does all the usual cooking things. In general, all the girls are nuts, and nobody complains about Haruna apparently deciding to sleep with the admiral and not seeing anything unusual about it...
The new MVP line is really terrible, though... Kinda Kuroko from Railgun.

That's on par for course with the usual Admiral X Shipgirl thing so it's not unusual. NO ONE bats an eyelash for anything Kongou says about the Admiral. Hell, she could have a new line that literally says "Admiral! I wanna suck your dick!" and we'd be all like "meh".
The thing about Ooi is that before she's been slowly "evolving" into less of a nice girl and more of a crazed sex exaggerated lesbian that you usually seen in normal fandoms (Touhou, IdolMaster and whatever) and it just seems like Kadokawa wants to actually make that a canon thing. It's fine when fandoms do it, but when the actual official stuff starts doing it, it gets kinda narmy.
Imagine if ZUN were to actually start throwing Sakuya pad jokes in the actual Touhou canon and actually have it be in our face about it.

That would matter more if Touhou fanon wasn't picking and choosing what we liked. People tend to ignore the parts about the youkai really being monsters, and killing or eating people or having psychotic personalities. According to some, Flan's a sweet little girl just locked in the basement because Remi's just being mean. (And they get upset with things like Canni-can.)

I loved that story. Rumia is adorable in it, even when she's having fresh supplies.
As for canon works which aren't the games, even they sometimes conflict with one another. But Wild and Horned Hermit is always a fun story, as is Forbidden Scrollery.

You are not the only one. Honestly, I did like Ooi before, her occasional extremely negative attitude shown towards the admiral was quite refreshing. However, when she received new voice lines around half a year ago, her character took a direction what I'm simply unable to like. Her obsessiveness with Kitakami is just way too large for her character to be likeable or enjoyable anymore.
I do enjoy seeing some fan-on depictions of Ooi though, such as the depiction of Ooi in kouji_(campus_life) works. It is nice to see an Ooi who can see some other things in the world rather than just Kitakami...
