Ah, the light destroyer leader cruisers, built from 1917 - 1925. Sadly, the whole idea of a 5500 ton light cruisers was abandoned for two reasons.

1) After the Washington naval treaty, everyone decided that the maximum ship limits were also the minimum they were willing to build. So that meant 8000 ton + 6.1 inch gun light cruisers or 10000 ton + 8 inch gun heavy cruisers only.

2) In 1926, Fubuki was completed, and rendered all pre-Treaty light cruisers and destroyers obsolete. Fubuki was had more speed, comparable firepower, half the cost, and less than half the tonnage of any of the light cruisers above.
