A tidbit of info about the toothbrushes they use in the show (which is not actually in this drawing): they are called Miswak. A miswak is basically a stick from a specific tree and one end of the stick is frayed making it brush-like at one end. For all intents and purposes it is a toothbrush, but it is entirely natural and you don't need to put any toothpaste on it. The tree itself has proven beneficial for users throughout history, the miswak and it's use as a toothbrush goes back to when the Qur'an itself was written. Matter of fact there are verses in the Qur'an that refer to using a Miswak to clean your teeth before prayers and meals.

Miswak is more predominant in Islamic cultures which makes sense why it shows up in this light novel/manga/anime. A good bit of the art style comes from an "Arabian Nights" theme, though not as heavily as Magi, and as such there are some Middle-Eastern influences in the scenery.

I don't have an official source for the info other than having experience first hand with Miswak, but here's a Wikipedia link anyways: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miswak

I hope someone enjoyed the info lol.

For good measure here's a screenshot of it in the show: http://puu.sh/h5CEK/43111eac53.jpg

Yeah in the following post (not this picture) she is using miswak so someone should make a tag for it since I am not good at creating tags: post #1978620

Edit: What she is using in this picture normal toothbrush it seems so I am removing miswak tag by the way.
