Underpaid? That's only the crust of it. You're underpaid, overworked and on short time. You can't even go home or get lunch on a daily basis.

IKR. And it seems things aren't getting better for animators even as of now, won't this affect the number of animators in the anime industry?

It makes you wonder. There will always be people willing to jump on the chance of being able to work as animators. The reason why the animators don't even complain is because they know they can be easily replaced with a snap of a finger, the same with Seiyus.

Hell, I'll fucking jump on the opportunity to be an Japanese animator if I was given a chance. I wouldn't even care if they pay me peanuts since if I could do it, I would. If we take that into consideration, and I'm quite sure such a thing is common for inspiring animators and artist, then we can see that the industry won't really be affected by the small things such as underpayed, overwork and etc.

Japan also put work before personal life, so there's also that.

While I'd love to do stuff like that, I would take it as a pastime rather than an actual job of it unless the pay gets better. It's nice to be doing what you love as a career, but most of the time reality loves to give all of us a swift kick in the ass.
Just my opinion though.
