  • Touhou - Inubashiri Momiji (2)

More Touhou time. Been a little while since I last did a Momiji one. Dropbox link contains a version with the background.

This time around, I wanted to practice with doing a no/minimal lineart image. It is a lot trickier when making shapes, since there is no lineart to hide under. I used the Shape Builder tool heavily, since it helped place nodes and lines exactly on top of layers below. There is still some bugs though, where if you export as Type Optimized (Hinted), layers below that are stacked right on top of each other still peek through. This goes away if you export with Art Optimized (Supersampling), but then the aliasing is much more poor everywhere else. So, I have to basically have them stacked perfectly on top of each other, but then move the lower layers inwards, so that they are not stacked. A little annoying, but it gets the job done. Otherwise, the only hard part was finding out what to make lines for and what not to. The original is fairly sporadic. It also melded shadows with lines at random points that I tried to replicate. I may at some point just make the shadows be below the lineart, though. This did manage to take 10ish hours (plus the 3 hours for the background), which was much longer than I thought it would take.

Edit: Fixed some bad color peeking on her arm.
Edit2: Fixed a bunch of stuff.
Edit3: Fixed a missing shadow and added a Dropbox link that includes the background from the original.
