Well, if you did the same thing as many times in as many lives as he does... at this point, he can probably do entire incarnations running entirely on autopilot and muscle memory (which might explain why he doesn't talk).
you have to admit, you would fall for the same trap if you were playing as link. if you saw a single unbroken pot in the room you would be tempted to smash it
