I'll be honest, the only reason I am even remotely interested in Overwatch is for D.Va. That titanfall/mechwarrior action. Also helps that she is a qt grill and the most moe of all.

They eventually get kicked off after a minute or two of idling. I went to the restroom before a match while I was in a party with my friends and when I got back I was back in the main menu and had to wait for my friends to finish up their game before I could join them.

Are you playing on PC or console? I saw similar complaints to yours on /r/Overwatch and apparently the console versions/servers don't have the AFK functionality I described implemented.

It was extended for a day until 5/10, but it should've been done a couple hours ago. I assume Blizzard is taking it's time to shut down the servers.

ETA: Aaaaaaand it's over now. Can't wait for release.
