SauceNAO didn't find it so it's not currently on Pixiv, at least. IQDB only saw the alternate on Gelbooru which was also uploaded just recently. Google Image Search actually found fake MTG cards using a cropped version of this image and two other web sites. The MTG cards don't source the image, only the card frame; the first web site is in Korean and just seems to be dumping images; the second web site appears to be in Chinese and seems to be doing the same thing; but, it also features at least two other images with the exact same style as this one (they're both Nazrin and Shou). It does not look like any of them have artist signatures unfortunately. The dates associated with all of these entries appear to be 2011.
Oh God, you've gone through the same things as I have...! Thanks for taking so much trouble ... I just left a comment on the blog you were talking about, so hopefully the owner might be able to get in touch soon or later... I think this bids pretty well for an answer:
