I do love how Midori's hair tubes resemble those brushes used in tea ceremonies...

Green tea comes in various types:
The most well known is sencha. Specifically, shincha, the first flush [harvest] of tea leaves, is the intended meaning here.
... goes the saying. Green tea is good for health, and it is said to be of good omen.
And if you take steamed brown rice and roast it, then blend it with sencha or bancha, you end up with genmaicha. * sencha is rarely used for genmaicha; bancha is more common.
And then, after the sencha has been picked, comes the second flush, bancha.
"Morning tea brings good fortune" Proverb; reflects ancient beliefs that having tea in the morning could prevent misfortune and bring good fortune. Sometimes rendered as 「朝茶には福が増す」 . Related proverbs: 「朝茶はその日の難逃れ」 「朝茶に別れるな」 Reference: [1, 2]
Furthermore, by roasting bancha, you get houjicha.
