Actually, though, I want to know who all the husbands of these girls are. They started off saying people like Kongou married "another admiral", but there can't be THIS many admirals lying around.

Ya, that's one of the trials of translating i'm not fond of. Having a big enough vocabulary for the language you're translating into. English isn't even my first language as well.

This reminds me of Takao's page -- remember it mentioning that Takao moved to England? Well, historically, Takao (the ship) was surrendered to the United Kingdom as a spoil of war (kind of how the Yukikaze was given to China, and Hibiki to Russia).
