I am getting the impression that the guy is the one crying and acting all emotional in these.

I don't think she even counts as an ex. The implication seems to be they weren't even dating. He was just some random joke who kept running up to her and acting like this.

Well, this isn't very realistic at all. Surely after that third one, the dude would be too busy being in the hospital to do the other three.

Meiling is never presented as being overly hostile, and he clearly didn't actually hurt her. At most he'd get knocked unconscious, I doubt Meiling would do serious harm to someone who doesn't pose an actual threat to her or her friends.

I suppose. Although, that said, on the infrequent occasions when I've been knocked out, I have gone to the hospital, so...

(Also, depending on your take on the personnel relations at SDM, it's possible that some joker who randomly rocked up to the gate and hung a haymaker on Meiling for no reason would end up getting either repeatedly stabbed out of nowhere, or just summarily blown up. Admittedly, in the latter case there wouldn't be any need for hospitalization. :)
