From looking at all the redesigns for the gym leaders, it's obvious that they learned from their mistakes compared to the HGSS era.
Improve the design: not completely revamp it to the point where it barely resembles the original character entirely.
I actually liked the HGSS Natsume design. I thought it made her closer to being a more realistic person than the emotionless drone she was in the anime.

The games and anime have different Natsume's. In the anime she wore black thigh boots and white pantyhose under them and at the end of she had learned to lighten up.

Well, I assumed that the reason people didn't like the HGSS Natsume design was because they were too attached to the anime Natsume that they couldn't accept her in clothes you could imagine a woman in real life to be in.

I've never watched the anime and I hated the redesign. It might as well have been a new character...and why did it only happen to her?
