In real life, Kongou lose one of her most important fight because she underestimated a destroyer.

That might explain why she likes to shot the enemy DD!

Yeah... see there's a reason the normal response from DDs on sighting enemy battleships is 'oh shit, cheese it!'. Sure if they decide to have this battle in the dead of night in a tiny, cramped strait maybe the DDs could manage an upset with torpedoes, but in any engagement where a fast BB can spot the enemy and maneuver the DDs are going to get their shit utterly ruined baring some pretty extreme luck.

Note that off Samar Kongo was never seriously threatened and definitely got the fatal hits on one and probably two of the DDs that sank. In fact she seemed to be the only Japanese capital ship in the fight that was hitting crap.

Now if this was a Submarine... Run Kongo, fly like the wind!

Now, that's fast translation. Only 4 hours after posting I can already see the notes. Good work, Paracite.

If it's up before I head to bed, I'll usually get it done.

In theory, Yamato scored the longest range hit in history at that battle. Something like 31,000 meters against a destroyer. The problem being proving it.

Well the most logical reason why that range is almost unprovable is because at that range you need a spotter so the shell reaches the target and by that time the destroyer would have moved a few miles already, even if the destroyer did not move, the earth moves so the shell can be off

probably something like Iku shot 6 torpedoes, hitting her initial target and 2 other accidentally 10km ahead

A bigger problem is that by the time this supposedly occurred something like half a dozen ships, most of them much closer, where firing at her supposed target making it pretty much completely impossible to determine who was hitting it.

Actually, according to The World Wonder'd by Robert Lundgren, it was Yamato that got the most hits out of all the Japanese BBs present.

Meanwhile, Lebe was sunk by the Luftwaffe while on an ill-conceived mission to shoot up some British fishing boats, which the task force never even got within sight of. So she's really not in any position to throw shade at an English-built battleship here. :)

(And then Max was sunk by a mine - a Luftwaffe mine - trying to rescue Lebe's survivors. The Luftwaffe really was shit at maritime operations.)

Even in Germany, Destroyers hate to lose!
If... If it's come to this - a practice battle!
Well then, the two of you at once is fine too?
The winner will take the food to the Admiral!!
First of all, didn't we conclude that English was out of the question...
So quick with the "Practice Battle"...
    Ohhh, are you scared?
Are you looking down on us just because we're Destroyers?
